The Mountaineering Association of Heraklion, in collaboration with the Canyoning Crete Outdoor Center, is organizing a new canyoning training program for beginners, in October 2023. The purpose of this program is to introduce the participants to the world of canyoning, train them in vital techniques and to equip them with the necessary knowledge to discover the unique natural beauties of the island, which remained unknown to non-experts.
The program includes both theoretical and practical training in selected canyons of limited difficulty, making it suitable for beginners. The dates of the program are as follows: the theoretical part will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the offices of EOS Heraklion, in the "Kitsa Vassiliadou" room, while the practical part will take place on October 14-15 and 21-22, 2023 in selected canyons. In addition, there will be a practice session on canyoning techniques on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
The maximum number of participants is limited to twelve (12) people and the selection will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. The school is aimed at people, regardless of previous experience, who have reached the age of 18, are in good physical condition, and are insured (accident insurance) throughout the school.
The trainings are provided by a certified canyoning instructor, according to the standards of the French Canyoning School (Ecole Française de Canyon) and the Speleological Federation of Greece.
To register for the course, each participant must submit the following documents no later than Monday, October 2, 2023
- Application: Complete an application form with your full details and acceptance of the school's regulations
- Medical Certificate: Provide a certificate from a pathologist, cardiologist or general practitioner (not older than 6 months) confirming your fitness for sporting activities.
- Photocopy of the Identity Card: Include a photocopy of your ID.
- Passport type photo :Attach a small passport size photo.
- Membership Certificate: Provide proof that you are a financially up-to-date member of the Hellenic Mountaineering Association of Heraklion and a member of the Speleological Federation of Greece (S.O.E.).
